Dear Editor
If you’re reading this and you’re between the ages of 16-55, then consider me your education and career coach for a few minutes. First, you’ve got to be determined to get a high school and university education. This must be started and completed with or without support from the Government. Today’s world requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s and even Ph.D. degrees. These can be accomplished face to face or remotely (virtually) in our world today. Ignorance cannot be the norm or be allowed to take over an entire society in all ten regions. Society needs the well-qualified, to be honest, hard-working and godly. Society needs to have enforceable public policies and laws (with harsh penalties) from honest and educated people. The leaders we have seen from independence to present, most are not servant leaders but selfish ones (me me and blah blah). Also, many, many government Ministers, PS and leaders are not qualified for the Ministry they are leading. This is disastrous and narrow-minded.
Secondly, what do you enjoy doing or wish you could do as a life-long career? Nothing is impossible – the sky is the limit! Start today – enlarge your mind on google – start by taking a free course on the internet. There are so many to choose from online. Look for degree programmes; look for scholarships. Get out of the ‘Guyana’ alone thinking. The Pharaohs you see in Guyana today will not be the Pharaohs of the future. Society needs true godly leaders to move in a different direction to solve crucial problems left unsolved since before independence. Three areas in need of dire attention are a Truth and Forgiveness movement, a Constitutional reform movement – an end to winner takes all and Electoral reform – every vote cast must count. Also, I need to vote for servant-leaders from my community or Region.
The following are Guyanese and whole communities who should be admired and emulated for their stand on justice, honesty, boldness, strength and determination.

The Henry family – No justice; no peace
Mr. Nigel Hughes – law and order
Dr. Tarron Khemraj – financial accountability
Mr. Geoffrey DaSilva – persistent educational writings
Ms. Melinda Janki – international law
The Belladrum and Cotton Tree communities – No justice; no peace
These are people with incredible guts and a passion for honesty and integrity. You can be the one to stand proud and declare what is right, just and honest in society. Don’t procrastinate, waste time, follow friends going nowhere. Start with honest prayer and watch God guide your education and career steps even in a tumultuous country. Together, we can make Guyana a loving, peaceful and godly place.
