Gulbadin Naib starred with a 51-ball 78* while captain Sikandar Raza made 24 as the Capitals, chasing a small target of 140, needed only 17.4 overs to secure the win.

Vipers skipper Lockie Ferguson tried his best with the ball with 2-29 from his four overs.

Earlier, after winning the toss and bowling, the Capitals restricted toe Vipers to just 139 all out in 19.5 overs.

Opener Alex Hales made 34 while Sherfane Rutherford, who batted at number seven, hit three sixes on his way to 27 off 24 balls, having to bat more patiently than normal due to the regular loss of wickets at the other end.

Dan Lawrence also played decently on his way to 24 off 19 balls batting at number three.

Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera and Afghan spinner Zahir Khan were the best bowlers on the day, splitting six wickets evenly while McCoy, Haider Ali, Naib and Raza picked up the other four scalps.

Prior to this defeat, the Vipers had won their first four games and still lead the table on eight points while the Capitals’ second win moves them up two places from last to fourth.

Summarized Scores:

Desert Vipers 139 all out in 19.5 overs (Alex Hales 34, Sherfane Rutherford 27, Dan Lawrence 24, Dushmantha Chameera 3-26, Zahir Khan 3-34)

Dubai Capitals 140-4 in 17.4 overs (Gulbadin Naib 78*, Sikandar Raza 24, Lockie Ferguson 2-29).
