U.S. EXIM Bank President in Guyana to Support Gas-to-Energy Project

Reta Jo Lewis, President and Chair of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), will be in Guyana from Thursday January 9  to Saturday 12, 2025. to underscore the EXIM Board of Directors’ recent approval of $527 million in financing for a transformative gas-to-energy project in Guyana. The initiative, is expected to enhance Guyana’s electricity infrastructure, and double the  current installed electric capacity.

This landmark project will play a pivotal role in Guyana’s energy transition, providing more reliable and cleaner energy to both consumers and businesses. It is also expected to create approximately 1,500 American jobs while fostering greater economic collaboration between U.S. and Guyanese companies across multiple sectors.

During her visit, Chair Lewis will meet with President Irfaan Ali, senior government officials, and key business leaders to discuss the gas-to-energy project, explore future opportunities for U.S.-Guyanese partnerships, and highlight the potential for continued collaboration to benefit both nations.
