ChildLink reflects on work done during the year

Dear Editor,

As the year draws to a close, it is necessary for us to take time out to reflect on our successes. Parents, teachers, guardians and caretakers of all levels have continuously supported and protected the nations’ children in spite of the ongoing struggle with the Coronavirus. While our frontline workers continue to toil tirelessly in order to ensure our overall safety, the many parents, caregivers and teachers who defend the future of our nation on a daily basis are still locked in and focused as ever.

2020 is a year that we believe, will be remembered for a very long time and while there were many situations that resulted in sadness, there are still many more that called for celebration and the time has come to give praise where praise is due. To the parents and service providers/frontline social welfare and health workers and all our partners that have continued to fulfil their duties and have even taken up more than their share in this difficult time and also to the guardians who have been tested and stressed and yet persisted we, at ChildLink say thank you. Your selfless efforts and consistent attention to the younger ones is nation building, we expressed our gratitude and look forward to greater successes in 2021.

Furthermore, in recognition of these efforts of safeguarding children, many of which we don’t hear of due to the nature of good deeds, we say thank you and Merry Christmas. We hope that the new year brings you continuous strength, peace, joy, happiness and wealth. May you continue to do the good work you have been doing and influencing more adults to protect children in their care.

ChildLinK is working with local and international development partners to create a Guyanese society where every child grows up in a loving, safe and secure family and community. The Recovery Safeguarding Reintegration initiative is supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Guyana and partners with the CPA and several agencies to reintegrate children to safe families and educate the wider society on the prevention of child abuse.
