The New York based Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID) is appealing to persons with information concerning the disappearance of Jamaican Rugby player, Alpachino Mignott, near the US Canadian Border, to come forward and assist Canadian, New York and Jamaica Police with their investigation into his disappearance.
Mignott, 26, is a Jamaican national Rugby player who lives in Portmore, St. Catherine, Jamaican. The player travelled to Toronto, Canada, on October 16, 2024, with the Jamaican national Rugby team for an international Rugby game on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Lamport Stadium in Toronto. Between October 16-19, 2024, he stayed with a friend at an Air B and B in Toronto.
After the game on October 19, Mr. Mignott traveled from Toronto to Queenston, Niagara, allegedly with the intention of crossing over to the US to meet with his girlfriend in Buffalo, New York, but never arrived in Buffalo. Niagara Police said an Uber dropped Mignott off in the Queenston neighbourhood, near the Niagara River in Canada, around 10:45 p.m. on October 19. Niagara Police said they searched Niagara River, reviewed local hotel surveillance footage and spoke to the Uber driver, but found no information on or trace of Mignott.
Reports are Mignott texted to inform his girlfriend, who was waiting for him in Buffalo, that he had exited the Uber in Queenston. The girlfriend tracked his phone location to the vicinity of the Kent Motel, in Queenston, Canada, at the border. This is his last known location and communication with anyone. Mr. Mignott’s mother, Ms. Meshanda Nesbeth, believes her son may be in danger and is appealing for persons with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward and communicate what they know to Police.
CGID, in a statement said it is unswervingly committed to finding Mignott and has notified the FBI, New York State Police and the Buffalo Police Department of this matter ,and solicited their assistance with the investigation.
Anyone with information that can assist the Police in their investigation should immediately contact Niagara Police, New York State Police, Buffalo Police Department or the Jamaica Police.
