The award the organisation said reflects Women’s Haven® Guyana’s impact on the community and its ongoing efforts to enhance women’s health through education and high-quality, safe products. The award, named after Marshaun Tyrell, a former director of nursing known for his dedication to community service and health education, was presented by Mrs. Tamika Henry-Fraser, Founder and CEO of Curl Fete.

In her address Henry-Fraser lauded Women’s Haven® Guyana for its commitment to the ideals Tyrell championed: community service, health awareness, and nurturing bodily care.

Lexann McPhoy, CEO and Executive Distributor of Women’s Haven® Guyana accepted the award. She chose the opportunity to express her gratitude and highlight the company’s mission.

“The Team is super excited and humbled by this award. Our mission at Women’s Haven is to raise awareness about the dangers of toxic traditional pads,” McPhoy stated.

McPhoy also emphasised the importance of discussing often overlooked health issues, such as painful menstrual cramps, infections, and odors that many women endure in silence.

The organisation prides itself being at the forefront advocating for safer, non-toxic feminine care alternatives. By offering 100% organic products, Women’s Haven®  not only provide relief but also foster open discussions about menstrual health challenges.

Curl Fete, is the Caribbean’s largest annual festival celebrating natural hair and beauty. This year’s theme “SPLASH” underscored the importance of moisture in maintaining healthy natural hair.
