The Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) in a statement says it unequivocally supports the pursuit of justice for Jared Jagnandan, the 18-year-old tragically killed on March 21, 2024. GGDMA “stand[s] with his family in demanding that the Guyana Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions address this matter with the highest urgency and transparency.

The prolonged delay in resolving this case is deeply troubling, as over two months have passed without any charges being filed, the agency says. “It is crucial that cases like this are resolved promptly and transparently to uphold the principles of justice and accountability. This delay risks eroding public confidence in the justice system.”

By raising our voice, GGDMA says it hopes to amplify the seriousness of this matter and increase public awareness. “Our objective is to urge the authorities to recognise the urgent need to expedite this case. We echo the family’s call for a thorough and transparent investigation. It is imperative that those accountable for his death are brought to justice without further delay.”
