Three Prison Officers have been charged departmentally for neglect of duty following the discovery of a quantity of prohibited items, inclusive of suspected narcotics, concealed in bread bins or containers at the Lusignan Prison on November 17, 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs disclosed.

Police have been called in and an investigation has been launched. The Ministry said that while the police investigations are ongoing, the Prison Officers’ departmental charges will in no way prevent them from being charged criminally if the investigations find they acted illegally.
