Carifta 2024: Guyana nets 3 gold medals on day one of games

Guyana is off to a golden start at the 2024 Carifta Games in Grenada where three athletes already bagged medals on day one of the event.

Starting off Guyana’s golden run, Tianna Springer dashed to first place in the U-20 Girls’ 400 metre in 52.31s. In 2023, Springer also won gold in the Girls’ U-17.

In the Boys’ U-20 400 metres Malachi Austin delivered Guyana’s second gold medal of the day when he ran a new personal best of 46.35s to take first place.

Bringing in the third gold medal and rounding off the evening, Athaleyha Hinckson stormed to first place in the U-17 Girls’ 100 metres dash in 11.44s. She ran a personal best.

Day 2 of the Carifta Games continues today at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium.  (Loop News)
