The life of black slaves on the plantations was notoriously miserable. The plantation system along with its slave labour is a tool of colonization marked by social and political inequality. It connected agricultural prosperity to the dominance of affluent aristocrats and the exploitation of slaves through the harrowing tales of captivity, maltreatment, and dehumanization!!! These slaves could experience amputation, castration, sexual assault, brutal beating and other various forms of punishment, even boiled in hot syrup to death.
