China is willing to work with the US to make good use of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, manage differences, advance cooperation and maintain the stable, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations, an official with China’s Ministry of Commerce said on Monday, in response to a media inquiry over an idea floated by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer at the recently concluded Davos in Switzerland on another potential round of trade negotiations between the two countries.

In 2025, China and the US, guided by the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit, conducted five rounds of economic and trade consultations, achieving a series of positive outcomes, Wang Zhihua, a ministry official, said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Monday.

This has fully demonstrated that through equal dialogue and consultations, China and the US can find ways to resolve issues, said Wang.

Following the meeting between the two heads of state in Busan, the two sides have maintained continuous communication at various levels through the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, working together to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders and the outcomes of the Kuala Lumpur economic and trade consultation, the official said.

China is willing to work with the US, adhering to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, to jointly uphold and implement the important common understandings of the two heads of state, make good use of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism and manage differences, Wang said.
