Guyana has captured gold in the Men’s 4x400m relay at the South American Under-20 Championships, held from October 28 to November 3, 2025, in Lima, Peru.

In a thrilling finish, the Guyanese quartet of Tishawn Easton, Kaidon Persaud, Skylar Charles, and Jevon Roberts delivered a stellar performance to win the event in a time of 3:14.40, edging out regional powerhouses Colombia and Brazil in a dramatic showdown on the track.

According to a post shared by the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) on Sunday,

“Guyana secured Gold in the Men’s 4×400 Relay at the South American Under 20 Championships, 28th Oct to 3rd Nov 2025 in Lima, Peru. The team of Tishawn Easton, Kaidon Persaud, Skylar Charles and Jevon Roberts secured the gold medal in a time of 3:14.40. Colombia secured silver in a time of 3:14.87 and Brazil bronze in a time of 3:14.89.”

The result marks a remarkable achievement for Guyana’s young athletes, who demonstrated determination and composure under pressure to hold off strong challenges from their South American rivals.

With just fractions of a second separating the top three finishers, the race was among the most competitive of the meet — but the Guyanese team’s teamwork and finishing strength proved decisive.

The GOA’s announcement sparked celebration among fans and supporters online, who hailed the performance as a testament to Guyana’s growing track and field program and the promise of its next generation of athletes.

The gold-medal finish in Lima adds to Guyana’s growing list of regional athletics successes and reinforces the nation’s potential as an emerging force in youth sprinting and middle-distance relay events.
