44 year old man charged with causing death by dangerous driving

APNU Sounds Alarm on National Water Crisis

According to a statement by the Guyana Police Force, Wavell Lamatt, age 44 years, of Beterverwaging, East Coast Demerara was charged yesterday, Monday by ranks of the Vigilance Police Station with the offence of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, Contrary to Section 35 (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act Chapter 51:02. 
 
The accident occurred on September 15 of last year on the Lusignan Public Road, Easthe Coast Demerara. The accident resulted in the death of 54-year-old Prahalad Sawh of Lusignan.
 
The defendant appeared at Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Monday at about 09:30 hrs before Magistrate Azore, where the charge was read to him. 
 
He pleaded not guilty and was placed on $100,000 bail.
