Bro. Prof Steven Golding, Chairman of the Jamaican Chapter of UNIA shall be in Guyana from the 22nd to 25th of October. His visit is on the anniversary of Marcus Garvey’s visit to British Guiana, 22nd – 24th October, 1937.
It is the intention of UNIA to have annual events in every Caribbean country on the anniversary of Garvey’s visit to the respective landmass. This second year of these activities, though in Guyan a it is the inaugural year, the theme is DECOLONISING THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CURRICULUM. with the New DADDY MARCUS NURSERY RHYMES BOOK.
ACDA has been tasked with the responsibility of organising the UNIA related events in Guyana. However, in order to make it truly participatory we shall be collaborating with other organisations in true Garvey style. The flyer speaks of a discussion at the African Heritage Museum, on Barima Avenue, in Bel Air at 5 pm Thursday October 23 and a symposium at the Tipperary Hall in Buxton at 7 pm Friday October 24. There is another gathering at 10 am on Thursday October 23 at the Akwaaba Centre (ACDA) 9 Thomas Roads, Thomas Lands. It would be appreciated if persons involved in Early Childhood Education be in the audience and participate in the ensuing discussion at these planned sessions.
