By Roysdale Forde S.C- To all our valiant supporters, steadfast comrades, and unyielding patriots spanning the vast expanse of Guyana, from the bustling streets of Georgetown to the remote hinterlands of the Essequibo, I extend my profoundest gratitude, forged in the fires of our shared struggle.
In the face of extraordinary adversity, you rose like lions, unbowed and unbreakable. You cast your ballots not merely as votes, but as thunderous declarations of defiance, fueled by unshakeable courage, unyielding conviction, and an unbreakable faith in a transformed Guyana. This is a Guyana liberated from the shackles of partisan cronyism and elitist privilege, one governed by the sacred principles of justice, equity, and true equality for all. You refused to cower. You rejected retreat. In the crucible of the recent General and Regional Elections, your voices echoed like a revolutionary chorus, demanding accountability and change. For this indomitable spirit, I offer my deepest thanks—a thanks that resonates from the depths of a grateful heart.
Make no mistake: the deck was ruthlessly stacked against us from the outset. This was no fair contest on equal terrain; it was a battlefield rigged by an entrenched oligarchy. We confronted a slick, insidious political machine that has long perverted the state’s machinery to perpetuate its iron grip on power, no matter the moral cost. The incumbent PPP/C regime treated public resources as their private fiefdom, hijacking institutions of governance, saturating the airwaves with deceitful propaganda, and muzzling dissenting voices through a media landscape tilted heavily in their favour, a veritable echo chamber of state-sponsored lies.
Even the vigilant eyes of international observers pierced through this veil of deception. Their damning reports laid bare what we, the oppressed masses, have endured for far too long: that the PPP/C exploited “a significant and unfair advantage through its access to state resources, including the state media and pro-government news outlets.” In essence, while we waged our battle armed with unassailable principles and the moral high ground, they brandished the weapons of unchecked privilege and systemic corruption. This is the face of neocolonial authoritarianism in our modern age; where the powerful entrench themselves by subverting democracy itself.
Yet, let us proclaim with revolutionary fervour: this struggle is far from extinguished. It burns brighter than ever, a beacon calling us to action.
Our vision for Guyana transcends mere aspiration; it is an imperative for survival and dignity. We dare to imagine, and demand, a nation where justice, fairness, and equality are not abstract slogans chanted in vain, but the bedrock of everyday existence. A homeland where no citizen, irrespective of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religious belief, is condemned to the margins, deprived of the nation’s bountiful wealth. We envision a Guyana pulsating with inclusivity, where every voice, be it from the indigenous communities of the Rupununi or the urban youth of Linden, is amplified, safeguarded, and empowered to shape our collective destiny.
This arduous path to a just society demands the fortitude of warriors. It calls for unflinching courage in the face of repression, selfless sacrifice amid personal peril, and unbreakable unity against those who sow division to conquer. As the iconic South African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela once declared, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” His words remind us that the chains of injustice, though heavy, can be shattered through persistent, collective resolve. We draw inspiration from Mandela’s unyielding pursuit of liberation, mirroring our own quest to dismantle the structures of inequality that plague Guyana.
To every one who rallied with us, let me say that your commitment is the lifeblood of our movement. Your votes were not futile gestures; they were revolutionary acts affirming that Guyana belongs to the people, not to a cabal clinging to power through Machiavellian manipulation and ethnic divisionism.
In the spirit of the legendary American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., who proclaimed, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” we must recognize that our fight in Guyana is part of a universal battle against oppression. King’s vision of interconnected humanity urges us to link arms across divides, transforming our pain into power.
Together, comrades, we will hammer out the Guyana of our dreams—a republic where our progeny inherit not only the earth’s riches, from oil fields to verdant forests, but the ethical inheritance of a society truly equitable and harmonious. We will build bridges over chasms of division, ensuring that economic prosperity flows to every corner, uplifting the marginalized and empowering the voiceless.
Our revolution endures. The flames of resistance flicker not in defeat, but in anticipation of triumph. We, the people of Guyana, united in purpose and unbreakable in spirit, will prevail. Rise up, for the dawn of justice approaches.
