After not receiving a salary increase in 2020, Government on Thursday afternoon announced a mere seven percent pay increase to public servants.
The increase will work out to $ 4900 for someone earning the minimum wage of $70,000 and a gross back pay of $ 58,800.
The increase will be retroactive from January 1, 2021, but unlike the Coalition, the back pay will not be tax-free.
The administration has also announced what it termed a special package of $400M for frontline workers who had been complaining bitterly about the low incentives and inadequate personal protective equipment even as battle the spread of Covid-19.
