Youth dies in Berbice accident

A 21-year-old man, Joshua Butts, from Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, is now dead after he lost control of the car he was driving and plunged into a trench early on Monday morning.

Facts of the investigations state that PTT7891, driven by the victim, was seen driving west along Place Warren Public Road, East Coast Berbice, when he appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. The car subsequently plunged into a nearby trench located on the southern side of the road.

Butts was taken out of the car by public-spirited citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was receiving treatment for his injuries but eventually succumbed. Investigations are ongoing.
