The Bell 412-EPi helicopter purchased at the price of US$ 13.M by the Government of Guyana last year to supplement the Guyana Defence Force’s (GDFs) aerial capacity is expected to arrive in here on Saturday.

This was announced by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Gail Teixeira during consideration of Budget 2021 estimates on Tuesday. Opposition Leader, Joseph Harmon was at the time making inquiries about the line item ‘Air, Land and Water’ under sums allocated to the GDF.

“The Bell helicopter that we had in the Supplementary last year will be arriving on Saturday in Guyana,” Teixeira said. She added that the cost for operation and maintenance has also been catered for in the current budget expenditure.

The Bell 412EPI is reliable in some of the most extreme climates. Its cabin can accommodate an array of options to suit any specific mission needs and it has a range of 672km.

The Bell 412EPI helicopter features an all-composite, four-blade main rotor system, two-blade tail rotor, skid-type landing gear, semi-monocoque tail boom, and aluminium alloy fuselage. It can execute missions both during day and at night.
