Construction worker crushed to death at Houston wharf

Police are investigating the death of Royston Souvenir, age 49yrs of Canal Number One Polder, West Bank Demerara which occurred on Monday at a wharf located at Houston, East Bank Demerara.

Enquiries disclosed that around 12:30hrs Souvenir was at the site along with other workers when one of his co-workers who was operating an excavator accidentally hit him to his abdomen and chest.

Souvenir was reportedly standing next to the machine at the time of the incident.
The injured  man was picked up and taken to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post Mortem Examination.  Investigations Ongoing.
