Dear Editor

The Guyana Youth and Student Movement is deeply concerned by the reports emanating from the Bertram Collins College, of the unjustified and indefensible firing of twenty (20) plus staff.

Politics, Law and Business Should Really Run on Three Separate Tracks

These staff members have now joined the undistinguished group of individuals who have been placed on the bread line due to the Peoples Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Administration.
It is most concerning that among the persons who were terminated, several of them are below the age of 25.

The APNU+AFC created the Bertram Collins College with the purpose of improving the standard of the public service, which was not premised on race, creed or religion.

With no word on a new batch of students, the PPP/C has shown that there is a blatant disregard for youth development within the public sector. Further, it is making subtle moves to eradicate a government programme that is aimed at improving the delivery of services in the public service.
Therefore, be warned, the GYSM will not sit idly by and allow this kind of injustice to continue. The youth of Guyana demands respect, the opportunity to contribute to national development and fair treatment for all.

Regards
Guyana Youth and Student Movement
