20-year-old woman believed drowned at Morawhanaa

Police are investigating the suspected drowning of 20-year-old Danielly Daniels of Hotoquai Village, North West District (Region One) which occurred, on Saturday between 07:00h and 07:40h at Morawhanna, North West District.

Reports are that on January 5, 2021 at about 10:00h, Daniels left her home to visit her aunt Theresa Romald at Morawhanna.
Romaldo recounted that she last saw Daniels at about 07:00h on the wharf on her mobile phone. At about 07:40h, Romaldo said she observed Daniels was no longer there and a search party was formed. The search party included 40-year-old Stanley Sam of Smith Creek, Morawhanna among others.

“Sam went into the water and subsequently found Danielly submerged. Her motionless body was fished out of the water and rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where she was seen and examined by Doctor on duty, who pronounced her dead on arrival,” Police said in a statement.

Daniels’ body is awaiting a post mortem examination.
