Venezuelan national robbed of mobile phone, $25,000 by trio; one arrested

A 31- year-old Venezuelan National of Friendship, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was on Sunday robbed by three identifiable males of a Samsung smartphone and G$25,000 in the vicinity of Demico House, Stabroek, Georgetown.

According to Police, the robbery occurred at about 16:30h on the said day. Reports are that the victim, Ricky Menque had exited a minibus and was walking on the pavement in the vicinity of Demico House when three males who were walking in the opposite direction pounced on him and relived him of his phone and money.

The trio made good their escape.
A 21-year-old Tucville, Georgetown man has since been arrested and positively identified as one of the trio involved. The man was arrested at about 17:00h on Sunday.
Investigations are continuing.
