The Brazilian team arrived on two patrol vessels belonging to the Brazilian Navy: the MACAU and BOICANA. Both vessels are berthed at the Guyana Coast Guard Ship Hinds Wharf, Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

A statement from the GDF said that the visit forms part of OPERATION CARIBEX 2020, an annual Operation conducted by the Brazilian Navy which sends a task force to navigate Caribbean waters and to visit ports of friendly nations.

The team was escorted by Brazilian Military Attache` Colonel Marcelo Ambrosio. Naval Captain Alexandre Gildes Borges is commanding the voyage.

Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Bess said that over the years, co-operation between the two militaries, particularly with CARIBEX has resulted in a number of valuable opportunities for Officers’ development and capacity building.

Naval Captain Alexandre Gildes Borges thanked the GDF for its continued co-operation and support.
