Police are in search of a 50-year-old Rose Hall Town man who failed to appear at the Albion Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to answer Grievous Bodily Harm charges.
The man, Troy Manns, a hire care driver of Lot 337 5th Street, Rose Hall Town was arrested on October 14 after he reportedly inflicted bodily harm on 40-year-old Vijay Ramcharitar also of Rose Hall Town during an argument on October 13.
Manns, who was charged on October 19 with inflicting grievous bodily harm on Ramcharitar, was expected to appear before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh to answer the grievous bodily harm charge.
The victim told Village Voice Guyana that he was imbibing at a friend’s residence when Manns passed and invited himself.
“Me and this boy name ‘Monkey’ buy a half and we sit down under a tree by Nigel place so we had lil Channa and nut and thing and we drinking but the day before we went drinking at the same place and I tell he [Manns] that he can’t come around we because of the virus,” the injured man recounted.
Ramcharitar said the next day Manns decided to join them again while they were imbibing. On this occasion, the injured man said he asked Manns to leave. This led to an argument between the two.
“We done arguing and I turn around to talk to my partner and I didn’t see that he pick up a wood and when I turn back he lash me on me hand; he give me three lash and break meh hand”, Ramcharitar told Village Voice Guyana.
After hitting Ramcharitar, Manns fled the scene. The victim reported the incident to the police. Manns was subsequently arrested
Ramcharitar, who suffered a broken right arm has to undergo a surgery on October 29.
“The 29th I got to go back hospital because them doctors do the X-ray and tell me that because of the breakage sometime it nah might heal up with this cast,” he said. The injured man was told by his doctors to desist from any strenuous activities. The hollow blocks maker was advised also to rest for a few months given the magnitude of his injuries.
The man told Village Voice that his injury sets him back because he is unable to work to maintain his 15-year-old son.
