A Barbados passport (Nation News)

The description page in the Barbados passport, which is found at Page 30 has been discontinued with immediate effect and not the bio data page, which is at Page two.

The biodata page contains personal identifiable information on travellers. That includes the person’s name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, date of issue and expiration date for the passport and the applicant’s signature.

In contrast, the description page contains the person’s profession, height, colour of the person’s eyes and hair, as well as any distinguishing marks.

Even though the description page was a feature of the Barbados passport, most international passports do not have a description page as this is not an international standard.

The Immigration Department assures the public that the discontinuation of the description page does not in any way compromise the security of the Barbados passport, as Barbados issues an e-Passport and the security features are contained within the chip of the passport. (Nation News / BGIS)
