Man feared drowned after boat mishap

One man is feared drowned following a boat mishap which occurred Monday night at Gatie Falls, Semang Creek, Middle Mazaruni River.

Missing is Clement Morgan, 63, of Lot 436 West Ruimveldt , Georgetown. Police said that information thus far revealed that about 10:00 hours Morgan joined a 19 feet aluminum boat which was powered by a 40 hp Yamaha outboard and captained by Marvin Andrews, age 49 years a Miner of Cane Grove Mahaica East Coast Demerara and with occupant Sanaika Jacobs to head to GGMC office at Issano.

They left the GGMC office about 15:30 hours enroute to Semang Backdam and about 20:30 hours whilst navigating through the Gatie Falls the outboard engine cut off and the boat sank. Marvin and Sanaika were able to swim to safety, however Morgan was not found and is feared dead. The area is being searched. Ranks have been dispatched to the scene.
